In order to further develop the use of Microsoft Kinects to provide motion capture data that can be used in a lower budget production workflow, Cinema Suite Inc. approached us to develop a robust motion capture to their existing Cinema Mocap plugin for the Unity game engine. Cinema Mocap is a product that enables game developers and filmmakers to add low-cost motion capture to their CG characters.
The SIRT team developed a prototype based on a white paper that unifies the skeletal tracking from multiple Kinects, and reconstructs the animation from a single camera's point of view. The project provided the basis for further development and commercialization of Cinema Mocap.
