Sheridan is one of Canada’s leading postsecondary institutions, offering 119 diploma, certificate, and bachelor degree programs in an environment that fosters innovation and creativity. Its aim is to become Ontario’s first university exclusively dedicated to undergraduate professional education – one that will be based on applied learning.
A key pillar of Sheridan’s mission is to build and grow a unique culture of Scholarship, Research and Creative Activities – one that celebrates the way different academic disciplines all contribute to the advancement of knowledge in their fields. Within this mix, research at Sheridan strives to solve real-world problems and provide students with opportunities to tackle challenges beyond the classroom.
SIRT was established as one of Sheridan’s Research Centres in 2009 at Pinewood Toronto Studios, Canada’s largest sound stage complex, in 2009 in order to support and help initiate advancements in production and post-production workflows for the film, television and gaming sectors. With partnerships and support from Ontario’s guilds and unions, as well as leading companies and industry associations such as FilmOntario, SIRT is Canada’s leading innovation and technology support centre for the screen industries.

Co-op & Internship Opportunities With SIRT
The SIRT Centre is one of six research & incubation centres that operate through Sheridan College. Sheridan Research is a department committed to cultivating and supporting a culture of Scholarship, Research, and Creative Activities (SCRA). The research is focused on creating unique opportunities for our faculty, staff and students to work directly with partners to address real-world challenges.
Students of Sheridan can apply for Co-op & Internship opportunities to these research centres through the Sheridan Works job board. These Co-op & Internship opportunities may help students complete their program requirements through their work-term, which are made possible through funding from the Work-Study program. Every semester, the SIRT Centre takes on a new team of interns from different programs to collaborate with the current team at SIRT, working with industry partners on innovation and active training projects.
