SIRT Workshop: Virtual Production Workflow For VFX

The SIRT Centre invites you to explore two key solutions for real-time integration of live action and computer-generated elements within a VFX workflow.

Meet the developer behind the groundbreaking innovation that helped create the virtual worlds in films including Oz: the Great and Powerful, Alice in Wonderland and I, Robot. Participants will also learn about one of the latest industry solutions available on the market and demo the technology in a hands-on session. This is a free event and lunch will be provided

Presenters:

Joe Lewis is the creator of the augmented-reality Encodacam system, an industry standard that allows for real-time previewing of live action and CG elements within a blue or green screen environment or on location. Most recently, Encodacam provided director Sam Raimi with the real-time, on-stage compositing tools necessary to accurately capture the world of Oz on a mostly virtual set.

Isaac Partouche will demonstrate SolidAm’s Solid Track technology, a patent-pending solution for real-time CG/live action integration. A witness camera attached to the digital cinema camera is used to track the position and orientation of the camera and create a real-time 3D composite.
