Cutting-edge technology in the hands of Sheridan college students

What do Top Gun: Maverick, The Mandalorian, Mufasa: The Lion King, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever have in common? They all harness the power of virtual production which has revolutionized filmmaking by leveraging technologies such as augmented reality and advanced motion capture to create realistic environments and effects on a virtual set.

This week, CityNews visited Generator at Sheridan‘s SIRT Centre at Pinewood Toronto Studios to take a closer look at how students are gaining immersive experience in this cutting-edge tech through our 12-week Virtual Production micro-credential program.

Full scholarships for all 20 seats in this unique program are provided by Warner Bros. Discovery Access Programs which creates pathways for Canadian creative and technical talent with an emphasis on championing voices from historically underrepresented groups, including Indigenous, Black, and racialized communities, as well as people living with disabilities, and members of the LGBTQ2+ communities.

Check out how this program is equipping students with the skills to thrive in the evolving film and media industry.
