Blackmagic Professional Certification FAQ

Who is the course instructor?
Mark's interest in editing was instigated by his fascination with the diversity and excitement of living in New York City. Having moved here in the early 90's from New Zealand, he developed his skills creating numerous documentaries including The Hip-Hop Vernacular and The Garden.

He created his own company, Nervous City Productions, which produces videos and DVDs for corporate clients and he is also a freelance editor whose clients list includes BBC America and MTV.

Will meals be served at the training?
Beverages and snacks will be served, but lunches are not included. Participants will have to bring in meals or go to the nearest diner.

How do I get to the venue?
A detailed reminder email about driving direction and parking information will be sent to registered attendees 2 days prior to the class.

What is the most effective way of preparing for the Professional (End User) Certification Exam?
Take the class at SIRT Centre and purchase the corresponding book. Each exam has a corresponding class/book. The classes can be taken at a Blackmagic Design Training Partner location (online and classroom) and the books can be purchased at

If I fail the exam will I have the opportunity to retake the exam?
Yes, you will have a waiting period of 48 hours in which you can then re-take the exam. Since the exam is a random set of 50 questions from a pool of 100+, it will not be the exact same exam.

What are the levels of the Professional (End User) Certification for Resolve 16?
Intro to Editing with DaVinci Resolve - Certificate of Achievement signed by CEO, Grant Petty.

What is the process to become a Blackmagic Design Certified Trainer?
You will need to complete and pass the Professional (End User) Certification exam in the designed area you would like to achieve certification in (Editing, Color, Audio). You must attend and pass the Train The Trainer class (which involves a presentation).
