SIRT Celebrates NBC Universal Gift to Sheridan

NBCUniversal has made a generous gift that will allow Sheridan to further incorporate 3D stereoscopic content production into the curriculum of its film and television programs, including a new Bachelor of Film and Television that launches in 2014. The new 3D curriculum will be offered in conjunction with the SIRT Centre and draws on the expertise of stereographer and former SIRT researcher, Mark Bone, who developed the new teaching materials.

“This gift enables the purchase of equipment that will allow our students to shoot, edit and deliver 3D content.  It will also equip us to develop modular workshops for industry, and support our ongoing research activities at Sheridan’s Screen Industries Research and Training Centre (SIRT),” says Sandy McKean, Associate Dean of Film, Television and Journalism at Sheridan.

Mark and the SIRT team helped coordinate a special 3D demonstration with the Faculty of Animation, Arts and Design for Ron Suter, Executive Vice President and Wanda Bradley, Vice President, Sales, of NBCUniversal when they visited Sheridan College on November 20 for a special plaque unveiling.

“We are honored to contribute to the education of the Sheridan College television and film students.” says Ron Suter, Executive Vice President of Sales at NBCUniversal Television Canada.  “Having the most up-to-date equipment on hand to enhance their skills in the media industry is a great asset and we look forward to watching their future work on the small and big screen.”
